Typically you will only discover it if you're bored with the Skellige stuff and want to move on and say, "I'm done with this crap.next!" But? It turns out that choosing to not aid in the investigation is the true "Witcher's way" outcome, as electing to not to aid in the investigation into the Berserker/ bear attack, thereby forgoing Hjalmar/ Cerys dispute, but still having done Hjalmar's and Cerys' respective "King's Gambit (?)" radiant quests, is the same as saying, "I don't meddle in throne power struggles and politics." If only it would have been penciled in that way.but as I had said, "broken quest." "missing content." Those interested in the Svaringe path? Which draws a balance between Hjalmar and Cerys's rule? Here's what to expect: As I had mentioned, IF you choose not to aid the Bear (we'll call it for newcomers) investigation, it's the same as saying, "Witchers don't get involved in matters of the throne." Which is a VERY poor way for CDProjekt to handle the ultimate Skellige outcome because, later in the story you end up with a main quest, called, "Isle of Mists" where the secondary objective is to recruit allies, and once you get them all recruited, the secondary objective stays jammed open and points you to complete Brothers In Arms, but Brothers In Arms is also jammed open because you chose not to aid the investigation, which was supposed to result in who was to be coronated, so you get stuck with Isle of Mists saying, "hey! Finish Brother's In Arms and complete the coronation in order to recruit someone, dummy!" And the Brothers In Arms quest is responding with, "Yeah, stupid! Finish me so you can coronate someone, a-hole!" But Brothers In Arms wasn't written to understand a neutral stance and that you had long since chose neither Hjalmar, or Cerys and that the investigation leg of Brothers In Arms is now closed.

I never knew of this option/ route in my other plays through because I was never neglectful in my quests, as I am rather O.C.D. You can tell something more was supposed to happen here.perhaps a proper Svaringe/ Birna quest arch, but it wasn't coded into the game.perhaps it never got written, or cut for lore issues,as it would sort of go against Geralt and the An Craite's entire history. This is the most incomplete part of the game I had ever come across, in my 7 plays through. WARNING! Broken quest, but only IF you elect to support Svaringe (which you cannot directly do).
